HAFENfreunde Magazin

Münster. Hafen.

Das ist mehr als nur Wasser, Ufer und Menschen. Münsters Stadthafen, das ist ein Gefühl. Kaum ein anderes Viertel der Stadt war in den letzten Jahren einem solchen Wandel unterworfen.

Alter Industriecharme trifft auf schicke Gastronomie und Firmenkomplexe. Es steht fest, dass sich der Hafen weiter entwickeln und verändern muss und wird. Doch welches Gesicht wird er bekommen, wo können wir uns einbringen und mitentscheiden?

Das ist eine politische Frage und eine Frage der Mitbestimmung. Das Titelthema der Erstausgabe von HAFENfreunde beschäftigt sich genau mit diesem Wandel. Hierbei soll jeder zu Wort kommen. Die Politik, Bürgerinitiativen, ansässige Firmen und Anrainer, junge und alte Menschen.

HAFENfreunde, das ist der Titel des von uns entwickelten Stadtteilmagazins. HAFENfreunde thematisiert Münsters Stadthafen mit all seinen Facetten, all seinen spannenden und vor allem schönen Geschichten rund um das Leben, das Arbeiten und die reichhaltige Kultur, die am Hafenbecken ihren Platz finden. Auf den etwa 60 Seiten des Magazins werden diese drei Bereiche genau beleuchtet, interessante Perspektiven aufgezeigt und Menschen vorgestellt.

This project was about more than just water, quays and people. The municipal harbor in Münster is a state of mind, a feeling. No other district in the town has undergone such a radical transformation over the past few years.

The allure of old industrial sites can now be found side by side with chic restaurants and modern business complexes. Development and change – it is clear that this is what the future has in store for the town’s municipal docks, but what will the results look like, where can we get involved, and what contribution can we make? The port’s redevelopment is a political issue and as such poses questions regarding citizens’ right to participate in the transformation process. The cover story of the very first edition of HAFENfreunde (“Portfriends”) was dedicated to precisely this issue of transformation. The intention was to ensure that everyone can have their say – politicians, citizens’ action groups, local companies, the owners of adjacent properties, as well as Münster’s ordinary residents, both young and old.

HAFENfreunde is the name of the new magazine for our part of Münster. The publication takes a look at all kinds of issues relating to our home town’s municipal port. The stories it contains range from the entertaining to the thought-provoking, but all of them shed light on how people live and work around the harbor, as well as and on the rich culture that has grown up at the quays and docks.  About 60 pages long, the magazine is subdivided into three sections that explore issues relating to the harbor, exploring what the future might hold for the district and for the people who live and work there.
